Julie Clement, JD, is owner and principal of J. Clement Communications. She is a Distinguished Professor Emerita with Western Michigan University Cooley Law school, where she spent 16 years teaching legal research, writing, and drafting before shifting her attention to J. Clement Communications.
She spent more than a decade as editor inchief of The Clarity Journal, the international journal promoting plain legal language. She is now serving her third term as Clarity's president. Julie also serves on the North America-based Center for Plain Language board of directors and on the International Plain Language Federation.
She focuses on plain-language forms design, translating legalese into plain language, and plain-language training. Julie partners with plain-language professionals around the world to bring all their skills to your project: legal design, testing, and more.
